Training Overview

The Firestorm train and play on a year round schedule. Our year begins in August with a week of residential soccer camp and two-weeks of full day summer camps.  The team usually participates in two pre-season tournaments to prepare for the regular season in Greater Central Florida Youth League (GCFYL) which features the best soccer teams from Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Orlando, Kissimmee, Melbourne, Cocoa, Vero Beach, Gainesville, and lastly Ocala. During the fall and spring seasons, the Firestorm practices two (2) to three (3) times a week and play optional scrimmage games with local “competitive” teams in our area.

During the fall season, the Firestorm also trains two (2) to three (3) times a week. The team also participates in two (2) to three (3) tournaments from mid-December through early March.  The Firestorm resume competition with weekly games in the GCFYL which runs through May. The team wraps up its year by hosting a couple of summer tournaments such as the Challenge Sports tournament over the first weekend of July.  Following the completion of the GCFYL season, the Firestorm hold open tryouts.   In addition, many of the boys participate in many local training camps to supplement and further their soccer skills.

During the summer (mid-June to end-July) team members attend summer camps and clinics to supplement and further their soccer skills.  Others get together and play small sided soccer tournaments, 3v3 and other local 8v8 soccer tournaments.
