Training Overview
The Firestorm train and
play on a year round schedule. Our year begins in August
with a week of residential soccer camp and two-weeks of
full day summer camps. The team usually participates in
two pre-season tournaments to prepare for the regular
season in Greater Central Florida Youth League (GCFYL) which
features the best soccer teams from
Jacksonville,
St. Augustine, Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Orlando,
Kissimmee, Melbourne, Cocoa, Vero Beach, Gainesville,
and lastly Ocala. During
the fall and spring seasons, the Firestorm practices two
(2) to three (3) times a
week and play optional scrimmage games with local
“competitive” teams in our area.
During the fall season,
the Firestorm also trains
two (2) to three (3)
times a week.
The team also participates in two (2) to three (3)
tournaments from mid-December
through early March.
The Firestorm resume
competition with weekly games in the GCFYL which runs through
May. The team wraps up its year by hosting a couple of
summer tournaments such as the Challenge Sports
tournament over the first weekend of July. Following the completion of the GCFYL
season, the Firestorm hold open tryouts.
In addition, many of the boys
participate in many local
training camps to supplement and further their soccer
skills.
During the summer
(mid-June to end-July) team members attend summer camps
and clinics
to supplement and
further their soccer skills.
Others get together and play small sided soccer tournaments,
3v3 and other local 8v8 soccer tournaments.
